You may subscribe to the theory, “If you’ve seen one zoo, you’ve seen them all.” However, that statement certainly doesn’t apply when it comes to this animal park, in part because of its location. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo is built into Cheyenne Mountain, which means that the park extends up into the sky. Exhibits are scattered throughout the mountainside, providing an incredible view for visitors. As you travel through the zoo, you also make your way up the mountain. The path is not too steep for children, however, and taking periodic breaks at each exhibit make it possible to visit the entire zoo. Families can take in sights of Colorado Springs and the Great Plains along the way. If you want to get off your feet, think about using the chairlift to head through the middle of the zoo; it costs a little more, but the experience is incredible!
